What's On Suzie's Menu?

WHAT'S ON SUZIE'S MENU?

Happy Monday!

I had an interesting week last week!  This Grocery Hiatus hasn't been quite what I expected seeing as we've spent money on food eating out.  My Explorer has decided to crap out on me, which is okay because I expected it, but it's made the last week of our lives very hectic.

I am proud of myself for going with the rational purchase of a 2000 Ford Explorer with around 88k miles on it rather than a nice, new prettier one with significantly more miles.  Saving money is all about making sacrifices.  Would a newer car be nice?  Of course.  Do I need it?  Nope.  Does it benefit my family to get it?  Nope.  I believe I spent the least amount of money possible for a reliable vehicle, so I will pat myself on the back!  No car payment and no additional gas expense.  We'll pick up Dora III after work today, so who knows what our menu will be like tonight, but I will be tackling some of the meals from last week considering I only cooked once:

Inside Out Chicken Pot Pie
Baked Chicken w/ Hashbrown Casserole
Turkey Sausage Chilli
Tuna Casserole

My Grocery Hiatus technically ends this week, but I only plan to buy the bare minimum since money was shelled out elsewhere with working around all the car stuff and birthday celebrations.

I hope you all have a great start to the week!

  1. Congrats on the new car!! I definitely thought of you this weekend when I went grocery shopping... I went in with a budget of $100.. and I only spent $92.00 and walked out with saving $80.00.... my hubby was very surprised!! I am looking for a better way of organizing my coupons because I find myself wasting time scanning a BILLION coupons I brought with me. Any guidance on this? I hope you have a wonderful week and keep posting the recipes!! :-)

  2. Thanks, Mandy! I have been promising to post my coupon binder, and I will! I will do a VLOG this week/weekend and show you how I organize them. I basically have a 3-ring binder plastic souvenir sheets (like baseball card holders, but different sizes) and I organize them based on category and how I roam the stores. Mine is probably pretty huge compared to most people, haha, but I will still show it!

  3. Oh, and FANTASTIC job on your shopping trip. Doesn't it feel great once you realize how much money you're saving?
