| [shirt: f21, leggings: f21, hair feather: f21, socks: homemade, boots: somewhere in TN?] Awkward: - The only thing more deliciously attractive than adult braces is wearing the rubber bands with them. fortunately, I only have to wear them at night right now; unfortunately, Big Steven doesn't find it sexy. - Eating. - Big Steven taking this picture of me; we aren't really that kind of 'blog couple.' - Little Steven crying hysterically when he sees his Dr. Every time. Before she touches him. She's super sweet, I swear it. Awesome: - I should have my braces off by the time my twin gets married. - The 'skinny angle' Big Steven got of me with no diretion what-so-ever. High five! - The New Girl. If you arent watching it, you should; she named her turkey 'Hank,' short for 'Hanksgiving.' BAHAHAHAHA. - Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK! I love food. - This trip to CVS: My total OOP was $17.65 with $9 Extra Bucks back and a $10 Old Navy Gift Card. |

Awkward & Awesome Thursday.
Awkward:
- My son mistaking every man who wears jeans and boots with his back turned toward us for his father when we go to the store. He gets excited...and loud...when he sees 'his dad.'
- My boots have the worst traction ever. Every un-carpeted surface is a new opportunity for me to slip.
- Luke Bryan's dancing last night on the CMA Awards. He's hot, so it basically cancels out, but I literally LOL'd last night.
- Luke Bryan's moves remind me of Big Steven.
Awesome:
- My shirt! See for yourself:
Wearing a GLEE shirt to work is acceptable if you pair it with a really nice fitting blazer...but only if you work in one of your boss' houses where the dress code is 'clothes.'
- Jason Aldean won Album of the Year! Totally deserved.
- My brilliant brother in law, Jason, is taking our Christmas pictures down at the Lake this weekend.
- My future sister-in-law's first baby shower is this weekend!
- The Gingerbread Latte is back at Starbucks.
- The coming of Thanksgiving brings about much more optimistic Facebook status updates.

Awkward & Awesome Thursday.
Awkward:
- The cold sore coming in. I can't see it, but I can feel it and I have the weirdest mannerisms when I have a cold sore. I generally begin all conversations with people like so: "Hey, I have a really big cold sore and it sucks." Then that makes the person I'm talking to really uncomfortable. Cold sores are the worst.
- My stomach feels really sick. I'm not sure if the cereal followed by brownies w/ Reeses in the center and Cheetos had anything to do with it...
- I used to think 'Cheetos' were 'Cheese-tos.' Until I was like 24. In my defense, that would make much more sense.
- My hair is kinda rorange colored.
- Getting a 20% on a Pretest for my Math class. Please tell me when I will ever need to graph x and y intercepts when I become a Nurse.
Awesome:
- In case you didn't notice, I am wearing a UPenn shirt to represent my little sister's college. I really don't care about the college that much and don't really like Philly - I've never been, but I hate the Eagles (naturally.) - but I do sure love my Rachy.
- Not spending lots of money for this rorange hair. I've decided to color it myself because I am cheap and I just can't justify shelling out $200+ for something I will likely change my mind about in less than 2 months. It's actually really close to the color I want, so we're making progress!
- After the 31st, I will get a 2 month break from classes! Just in time for the holidays :)
- LADIES NIGHT tonight at The Melting Pot.
- Look out for my debut over at The Shine Project this weekend.

It's Almost Friday!
Have I ever mentioned my disdain for the traffic in Northern Virginia? Oh, I have?
Well, I really don't like it. For realz.
When did this area become so ridiculously over populated? A million years ago?
I cannot wait until I have a degree that allows me to have a career that doesn't involve commuting toward D.C. or Maryland.
Awkward:
- Being that mom that doesn't carry the necessities in her diaper bag. My son is wearing 0-6 month socks today because he decided to puddle jump on the way to the car this morning and I evidently don't pack extra socks. I suppose the Mom of the Year award will go to someone else.
- Calling a customer and telling him that the parts he ordered a month ago won't be ready for another 4-5 weeks...if he's lucky.
- Shorting my babysitter $20. Totes an accident, Mrs. L.
- Big Steven turned on the fan and I said "Oh, were you looking for it to get hot" and then doing a 'sexy' dance. His response "I was until you did that."
- Sharing the above information is a little awkward, too, but if you picture my dance, it's funny. Right?
- Nearly crashing into a vehicle in front of me and squeeling tires to stop, followed by Little Steven saying "ERRRRCH" (you know, like tires squeeling) then saying "WHOA BABY!" HAHAHA. Okay, that's a little awesome too
Awesome:
- My hair is growing so long! I feel like it's taken forever to grow it out, but I love it.
- A date at Hard Times tonight. So, it's not very fancy, but I LOVE Hard Times food.
- Forcing myself to workout 60+ minutes for 3 days in a row. I had to prepare for the gluttony that will occur tonight.
- The company Christmas party is going to be at a really pretty place in Old Town Alexandria PLUS we get hotels to stay in. Nice!
- The chocolate covered almonds my boss orders every year for his friends are right around the corner. Those things are bomb.
- Lipstick.
- Ladies night at The Melting Pot on the 27th! 20% of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
- A planned vacay to see Wicked in New York with some lovely ladies in January or February! I've never been to New York and I've been dying to see Wicked. I just can't wait!
- My twin brother and his lovely fiance will be wed this day next year! I'm looking forward to having another sister. I LOVE YOU BOTH!

Awkward & Awesome Thursday
- The word 'awkward.' Am I right?
- As if having adult braces isn't awkward in and of itself, I had them tightened yesterday, so chewing really sucks today; mostly, I chew with my mouth open.
- My son's impeccable ability to repeat everything that comes out of my mouth.
- My sleeping arrangements last night - Bella (my dog) sleeping beside me and Luda (my sister's dog) sleeping between my legs.
- Trying to charm people into purchasing thousands of dollars worth of lifting equipment. I'm not that charming.
- Unsuccessfully trying to fool Big Steven with Boca meat in his spaghetti. Hey, I didn't feel like making two separate sauces for him and my vegetarian, gluten-free sister, okay?! Get off my back.
- Having a verbal arguement with my scale this A.M. Biotch won't budge.
Awesome:
- God. Watching God work in my friends' lives is AWESOME.
- Having the energy to work out. Where did that come from?
- Investing in my future. Thank you, 401k.
- Sister, Helen, and teenager, Sydney are staying at my house. With Luda. Luda is 'special,' but Helen and Sydney are awesome.
- Pumpkin. All things pumpkin are delicious. Particularly Eddy's Slow Churn Pumpkin Ice Cream.
- FALL!

Smilings My Favorite + Awkward & Awesome

Do you even see that picture?! I just die! Every time I have a camera, he is ready to smile. Of course, I love when he smiles in general, but smiling is so contagious. In pictures, I smile with my mouth shut because I have adult braces; however, in real life, people get the real deal - hardware and all. It's pretty incredible how much a person's mood can change just by smiling - and how much we can change other people's moods by smiling, too!
I used to work for a hospice company. I absolutely loved the job itself and am super passionate about the industry; it's the reason I know my calling in life is to be a nurse. For the most part, I was surrounded by some of the most beautiful people I've ever met, including my Mama, and continue to be so inspired by them. In contrast, there were a couple of people that rubbed me the wrong way for various reasons. While I know now that responding back in a negative way was a horrible idea and only cultivated worse feelings, they made it difficult to really enjoy my job and smile. It occurred to me that I wasn't really proud of the person I was at work in some instances; while I gave and received a lot of encouragement and kindness from the the majority of my coworkers, it bothered me that I wasn't giving and receiving the same encouragement from the minority - specifically two. So, I decided to move on. My job now isn't necessarily the most positive working environment, but it allows me to go to school, be a mom, and make money; even if I have my complaints, I'm seriously blessed to have an opportunity to do all of these things and am incredibly grateful for my boss and his kind (albeit, stubborn) heart. What's not to smile about?

Awkward:
- Snorting. I snort when I laugh sometimes, which is common knowledge to my friends and family, but it's always really uncomfortable when a 'new' person experiences the snort.
- Being told by more than one person that Zooey Deschanel's character in The New Girl reminds them of me. I thought so myself, too, but the realization that everyone else knows me to be that awkward is...awkward.
- My two pack. I have successfully developed a two pack in my belly, but the part where the other 4 are supposed to go is still a little bit like Jell-O, so it's in a really strange looking stage.
- Giving the neighbors and accidental 'show' this morning in my nighty letting Bella out. I didn't think anyone would see me!
Awesome:
-GLEE started this week! While the premiere wasn't all that great, I know it's gonna be a good season.
- The Redskins being 2-0 for the first time in 4 years. HOLLAA!
- A two pack > A keg.
- Big Steven's cousin had her twins this morning. Two very big, healthy baby girls! She's one of the sweetest people I know and has a GIANT heart, so this blessing for her makes me ultra happy.
- Crockpots. 'Nuff Said.
- My Chocolate Banana Muffins. To be continued...

Awkward & Awesome Thursday!
Awkward:
-The above picture. My goal was showcase the SHINE necklace. Even though my pic sucks, go purchase for a good cause.
- Nearly getting stranded without toilet paper at work - nearly. I awkwardly held it in and got some and, thankfully, made it back before peeing on myself.
- Showing up late for work for the 3rd time this week. I am just going to have to leave my house 30 min. earlier to ensure arrival on time. Stupid NOVA traffic.
- Going to take a math test last night only to have to turn back around because I didn't have my ID. AFTER paying for the meter! You are welcome, person behind me.
Awesome:
- Having a boss that understands the atrocity of the traffic and never really cares that I'm late.
- The boots I'm wearing. They're a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll.
- My best friend/cousin/future MOH was born on this day. What a good day!
- Cardio for 30 minutes on top of the Shred on Tuesday and an HOUR yesterday! Hellooooo, super calorie burn.
- Rachel won Big Brother. She annoys me, but at some point she grew on me and I was rooting for her hard core. Now I wanna go on the show and win half a mill.
- This sammie I told ya I was gonna make:
Not as aesthetically appealing thanks to the camera phone, but just as delish!
HAPPY ALMOST FRIDAY!

Awkward & Awesome.
Awkward...
- Literally rolling out of bed this morning. Thanks, Jillian.
- Not having the will to get real pants on because the effort was too much for my aching body; therefore, wearing yoga pants to work.
- Walking like a 90 year old woman.
- Saying "what the hell was that?" then rambling on about something I don't quite remember in the middle of the night half awake/half asleep. I think 'that' was the east coast aftershock at 1 am this morning.
- Still blaming my extra lbs on my son...who is almost 2.
Awesome...
- Finding a $15 Starbucks gift card in my wallet this morning!
- Acknowledging that all this soreness means something is working...YAH!
- Knowing the names of every muscle that hurts in my body.
- Catching a glimpse of Big Steven's pride in me underneath his snickering at my wobbling around the house.
- It's a Redskins game day!
- Little Steven waking up and saying "bye bye Nelle" and "bye bye Buddy" even though we left them last night. He is so dang cute.
